There are multiple different types of suspension systems, all with their own pros and cons. The two broadest categories of suspension are independent and dependent. Independent suspension systems allow the wheel to move independently of an axle.

Independent

The vast majority of FS and FSAE vehicles use independent suspension. The most common type used in FSAE is the double wishbone or A-arm configuration.

Double Wishbone

Double wishbone or a-arms are the most commonly used suspension in FSAE and FS.
