Kinda setting up an outline
In my opinion this page should focus on topics specific to Hybrid Chassises. We can use the other two pages (Tube Frame and Monocoque) for other topics.
Possible topics for this page might include:
- Methods for attaching the two parts
- Effects of making parts tube/composite
could add:
- Advantages
- Disadvantages
- hardpoints
- composite techniques
- what this means for SES
- Common places to have the composite tub/tube frame split
- Impact on weight dist/stiffness between the parts
p sure these all kinda fit into what Toaster said, just expanding a bit
All of these ideas sounds awesome! I tried looking through my old photos, but I don't have anything relevant.
Would a tube frame with bonded composite panels be considered a hybrid chassis? There are ways of SES-ing it as a tube frame, but the panels are structural, so I'm a bit torn.
we did this my senior year and submitted it as a tube frame, but im not to confident about the details, i know we still had steel side impact members. in my (close to 0 chassis experience) opinion, I think if you can submit the SES as a tube frame, its fair to cover under tube frame
